I am a dance artist and filmmaker—working as a performer, choreographer, movement director, rehearsal director, teacher, and outside eye to other artists. My interest lies in embodiment and human connection – exploring where sincere physical experience and storytelling can meet, both for the performer and the audience. I investigate the range of physicality fed by imagination, and in my creations, societal themes and themes of identity, memory, and fantasy re-occur. With a background in social science, analytical thinking remains a part of my creative process, and I value the depth that can be brought through research and dialogue, and am curious for methodology. With my interdisciplinary experiences and wearing many hats in creative works, I am approaching my own creation with a multidimensional view; I aspire to apply my concepts deeply across disciplines, from a working process to the stage — always in an exchange with others.
Currently, I feel an urgency to marry my interests in stage, film, and societal themes, and explore a fundamentally more multidisciplinary approach, developing ways of feminist leadership and insisting on collectivity in my process.
My work has been supported by Magnezy Dance Productions, BAU, Frascati-Het Verbond, Theater Vrijburcht, Cinedans, and ICK Artist Space. My independent creations have been programmed in theaters and events in The Netherlands (Vondelpark Open Air, Theater Vrijburcht, Amsterdamse Theaterhuis, Plein theater, CREA, Theater Zuidplein, Theater aan de Schie, Hongerige Wolf, Totaalfestival, Still Moving festival), my acclaimed dance film “The Broken Phone Project” has toured 25+ film festivals internationally, and I collaborated with director Emma Evelein on Gouden Kalf winning short film “Lucid dreaming.”
